Damp Willow Corner |
An unused corner of the yard, which became overgrown with shrubs and miscellaneous plantings throughout the year. |

New willow corner. |
Containing the willow tree provided an opportunity to use the corner. Add a walkway and bench, prune and remove shrubs and weeds, and now it's a serene hideaway. |

Unused front gate. |
An old gate turned into a canoe storage area, limiting back yard access to the other side of the house. |

New front gate. |
Remove a few "volunteer" trees by the front door (on the other side of the gate), put in a new gate, move the canoe to a sideways resting place by the existing fence (and remove some of the overgrown shrubs). Finally, put in new shade plants for a more enticing view. |

Susie's back yard. |
The beloved pet had the run of the yard, which had turned into a way to get to and from the garage for busy video editors. |

Susie's new runway. |
We added plantings that are off the ground or in containers so ththey can't be run over, gave Susie her own runway beside the fence, added a dwarf flowering tree and seating, and the yard became an after-work relaxation spot. Hanging planters were eventually added underneath and to each side of the garage window, and short annual grasses below the window, giving more visual interest that wouldn't be trampled by the dog. |
